Kindred Hotel

Crafting a brand for an aprè-ski oasis

Our team was approached to name and create a brand identity for a new ski resort in Keystone, Colorado. The logo design process happened alongside the architectural planning and naming process, so it was challenging to nail down a design without a name or an idea of the architectural style of the resort. Regardless of the name, this new resort needed to feel like the gem of the Keystone mountains and feel synonymous with the spirit of the town. Many moodboards and directions were formed to allow for a name change at any step in the process. My logo design was chosen by the client, but before we could fully develop the brand guidelines the project was put on pause due to the pandemic.

Brand Identity
Logo Design

As interior architecture sketches began to come in, I started a visual tally to track what colors there most often used throughout the space.

The visual color tally helped us create two main color ways for the brand: Silent Sage and Midnight Plum

Here are a few other logo explorations of mine that made it to the final rounds before the name “Kindred Hotel” was chosen.
